December PINKPARCEL Squirrel Sisters – Cacao Orange Bar Review

In my December PINKPARCEL I received the Squirrel Sister Cacao Orange Raw Energy Bar and of course I was going to review it! It’s a fruit & nut brownie that I couldn’t wait to try (I took it into work the next day!)

squirrel-sister-cacao-orange

When I picked this out of the box I must say that I was very intrigued because I’ve not heard of Squirrel Sisters before AND I always love to see products which are free of things that I try to avoid in my food!squirrel-sister-cacao-orange-bars

This raw energy bar is:

  1. Gluten FREE
  2. Dairy FREE
  3. Grain FREE
  4. Vegan
  5. High Fibre
  6. Raw
  7. No Added Sugar
  8. 82 Calories (per bar)

Well that was impressive to read on the packet and for it to taste great too – really is a guilt free treat! I have actually been such a good blogger this time and managed to take a photo of the food BEFORE I’ve ate it – except I took the photo at work while at my desk and I work in a place that doesn’t allow you to have your phones out so it was a little rushed (if my managers are reading this…this photo was not taken at work!)

It basically tastes like a Terry’s Chocolate Orange but with Cashew nuts…so fair to say I enjoyed this (I did share it as well and my colleague agreed…we both enjoyed it to say the least). Oh and the little tray that it comes in had little squirrels around the outside and was super cute!

I didn’t click on until after I’d ate the bar but I love how their name is linked with Squirrels who like nuts and its a Cacao bar WITH nuts…am I the only one who sees the funny side of this?

I’d be more than happy if PinkParcel added more from Squirrel Sisters to the box so as always thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!

Leave comments with your thoughts, I appreciate them all!

BONUS POST – Artemis & Xena / Subscription Box Launch

I won the Artemis & Xena giveaway so thought I’d do a little post to say thank you and also discuss the fact they’re a NEW subscription box due to launch January! Good Luck, I’m so excited for them!

box-cardOh gosh already side-tracking…so the other day a  cute little box arrived in Christmas wrapping paper so I was a little confused actually but when I opened it I realised exactly what it was – they sent the prize with a cute little Christmas card (I am a lover of cats too how did they know?!), lovely message inside too so thank you Ani!

So I received a 60ml bottle of Shea Shower Cream, a 60ml bottle of Shea Whipped-lotion and a cute little (I forgot the name so…) poofy thing to cleanse with! The products smell gorgeous and I love The Body Shop so I am happy!

christmas-themed-cover-backgroundI will also mention that this subscription box is launching at the beginning of January, UK based and using some smaller UK businesses AND well known companies like The Body Shop!

What’s In The Box: The number of items can vary from 6-8 items (bonus items in January’s box though so I definitely want to get that one!)

In  every box there will be at least:

  1. 1 Makeup product
  2. 1 Teabag
  3. 1 Relaxing/Aromatherapy product
  4. 1 Activity
  5. Meditation practises
  6. Empowering Quote cards

All sounds good to me, I’ll admit I’ve never really attempted proper meditation techniques but maybe some from this box could be interesting to at least try.

Price: £15.00 (month to month subscription – does decrease depending on payment plan, I might try the 3 month one costing me £14.00 per month, £42.00 prepaid) Sounds a lot in one go but for what you get I bet it’s worth it, especially for them smaller companies who I know treasure every sale!

I’ve been given a 15% DISCOUNT code for you, just type in “JUSTJUNELLE15“. If you want to try it or at least have a look at the website click on this link to go straight to the website. (If you complete a survey for them it also gives you £5.00 off)

December GLOSSYBOX MDMFLOW Semi-matte Lipstick Review

In my December GLOSSYBOX we received MDMFlow’s Semi-matte Lipstick (I chose the colour Vamp aka Spice) and I love it. I wore it the weekend after we received the box on a night out and mdm-fow-poseralthough yes I did reapply throughout the night I probably didn’t have to (just a habit whenever I wear lipstick now).

I am loving the packaging – so sleek and elegant! I think the colour is absolutely gorgeous, when applying though I did feel like I had to apply a bit more pressure to actually get the full effect of the colour – I did also decide to mix it with my Maybelline Super Stay 24 hour Colour just to create a better effect.

Price: £18.00

If you want to check out more products from MDMFlow then click on this link because their lip-glosses look beautiful and the mascara looks so fancy and I’d love to try them!

December PINKPARCEL First Impressions

I am so happy with this months box, I am excited every month for my subscription boxes but if I had to only have 1 on the go forever I’d choose PINKPARCEL. I’ve never been disappointed with a box and anything that I’ve not been able to use (for whatever reason – my skin type/ product shades etc) I’ve been able to add to a giveaway for my followers or given to a friend so nothing goes to waste.

This subscription box is £10.50 (including P&P) per month and its ALWAYS worth it. You get some samples and some full size products to try as well as your monthly essentials (which you pick out while sorting out your account). This month we got such a variety: food, clothing, jewellery, facemask/skincare, candle and tea…how can anyone complain?

Here is a photograph of the contents of the “For You” section of the box:

overview-take-2

First Impressions:

  1. PINKPARCEL BRYT Socks – Never thought I’d be able to receive clothing in this subscription box so I was so overwhelmed with these cute PinkParcel socks which I cannot wait to wear (also tempted to buy another pair cos they’re just so adorable!!) I am loving how soft they are and how they’ve used their logo as the design – clever PPSquad!
  2. LOLA’S APOTHECARY Clementine Calamity Tea – I am loving trying the new types/brands of tea every month and I have actually went out and bought full boxes of some of them. I am looking forward to try this due to the Sunny Orange, fruity Apple and Honeybush flavours.
  3. SQUIRREL SISTERS Cacao Orange Raw Energy Bar – This bar is Gluten free, Dairy free, Grain free, High Fibre, Vegan and Raw…now if that doesn’t sound like a guilt free treat I don’t know what will! I am going to be taking this into work to avoid our chocolate counter/table (which never seems to be empty…I find it funny how we even use a fruit bowl to hold the loose chocolate packets).
  4. FUDGE KITCHEN Gingerbread Flavoured Fudge Dipped in Dark Chocolate – I am a great lover of fudge so I cannot wait to try this.
  5. THE VINTAGE COSMETICS COMPANY Blemish Wand – I have never heard of a Blemish Wand before so this was quite intriguing but I genuinely feel that with my Winter skincare routine as it is I haven’t had much to worry about this year so I will probably be adding this to my giveaway pile. The wand is Rose Gold (gorgeous and totally what I’d pick up in a shop).
  6. JEWELLERY BOX Bow Earrings – I don’t have pierced ears so I am gutted because these are super cute and if I did have pierced ears then I wouldn’t have a need for any others – simple and dainty…just what I like (also PinkParcel’s logo). I got the Silver ones (other people may have got the rose gold ones) these are going to be a stocking filler for someone I think – sad to see them go but happy that they’ll actually be worn.
  7. MUDMASKY Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask – MudMasky was the first EVER facemask I tried and still to this day after trying so many it’s definitely my favourite (besides sheet masks) and I stand by it. I am happy (to say the least) to receive another sample in a subscription box because GLOSSYBOX put one in a few months ago and now my second subscription box has began spreading the word…LOVE IT!
  8. SIMPLE CANDLE CO Fireside Wax Melt – Simple Candle Co are actually on my subscription box “Want List” (yes I have a list and there are so many but these are affordable and realistic so they’re high on my list of ones to try). I got the scent Fireside (made the whole PinkParcel box smell gorgeous when I opened it! Super excited to use and review this beauty! I’ve seen that a few other scents went out in the boxes so let me know which one you got and what you thought?
  9. AMIE Deep Pore Exfoliating Polish – I already use Amie’s Matte Finish Moisturizer so I am eager to try this because of how well that has helped my skin. Cannot wait to test and review!

I will have to say that (besides MudMasky as a current fave anyway) I was most excited about receiving the…socks in this months box! Such a lovely surprise.

Well they’re all the items I received in this month’s box…just to recap – I paid only  £10.50…click on this link to go straight to the PINKPARCEL website if you want to check it out, you won’t regret subscribing!

Thank you for reading, come back soon!

BONUS POST – The Melbourne Whirl

I won “The Melbourne Whirl” aka “@thehvoyage ” giveaway a few weeks ago.

The Melbourne Whirl is a lovely Travel, Events and Lifestyle blogger called Theodora (what

a beautiful name!). She is so lovely, so genuine and I am so happy that her giveaway has introduced me to her blog because I am loving it! I have loved reading “The Melbourne Whirl Christmas Gift Guide” the items are super cute and I want like everything – click on this link to check it out!

Anyways back to the reason for this post – she hosted a giveaway with X2 winners for some cute looking stationery so obviously I wanted to participate…I don’t usually win anything so you can imagine my joy when I received a DM and a Tweetcute-as-chips to say I’d won while I was on the train home – well it made my day! (besides the fact my boyfriend also got me flowers for when I’d actually got home also made my day – cutie!)

Even though we’re at opposite sides of the world I was surprised at how quick the parcel arrived, complete with this cute little note which just made me smile from ear to ear – how cute!

I have inserted a collage of the items that I won which I am loving because I’ve never even heard of a “Gratitude Journal” so this shall be lovely to look back on in the future, the “Thank You” notes are in perfect time for Christmas and the white and golden box with the quote “Find Wonders In The Little Things” I am probably going to make this a memory box for my boyfriend and I.

December GLOSSYBOX – First Impressions

It’s December – OMG where has the year gone…ok it can only be me to get side tracked in my first sentence!

Lets start again – today’s been a good day because…my December GLOSSYBOX arrived (and I didn’t even have to go to the post office to get it because my wonderful boyfriend kindly waited in during our usual delivery times just in case (I love you Jonathan!) so yeyy!)

first-impressions

Overall when opening the box I was very excited to see the lovely packaging with “Mistletoe Kisses” on and the colour scheme is gorgeous! Very festive and christmasy just the way I imagined it would be.

First Impressions:

  1. MDMFLOW Semi-matte Lipstick in Vamp – We had a choice of this shade “Spice” or a paler shade “Sugar” and I do prefer my darker lip shades so Spice aka Vamp was my choice. It was first come first served so I am super happy that I actually got the one I chose (30 mins after the choice section was open – not eager or anything).
  2. ESSENCE light up your face luminizer palette – Well who doesn’t love a glow on both a daily basis or a night out! Perfect for me to try and I do have a night out coming up so I’ll be super excited for the “getting ready” time (I LOVE the getting ready part of going out, it may not look like I do much but I take so much time and effort when I get the chance!)
  3. COLLECTION COSMETICS Define & Perfect Eyebrow Powder – well this looked very interesting because when I opened this the tip looked more like an eyeliner applicator. I’ll have to speak to one of my makeup friends for advice on this one…Sara I mean you! (you guys should actually check out her Instagram, she’s such a stylish beauty who is makeup addict! – click on this link to check it out)
  4. LIPCOTE – I’ve never seen a product like this and I am eager to try it but I have heard that if used quite a lot in a short space of time then it can dry out your lips – correct me if I’m wrong though but I was informed by an ex-beauty therapist who I truly look up to – especially when it comes to beauty advice.
  5. REVLON Nail Enamel in Valentine – This colour is one of my most common shades to go for when using nail polish, it works well with my skin tone. I do prefer bolder colours that really POP. I have received another Revlon nail polish in a GLOSSYBOX but I received the Colorstay Gel Envy Top Coat then and I LOVE that, I use it EVERY TIME  I do my nails without fail!

I have to say that from afar and before I try anything in the box my favourite product in the box has to be the … mdm-flow-vamp

…MDMFLOW Lipstick – this is because what girl doesn’t love a new lipstick?! I am so happy with this and it just looks so creamy and soft, I cannot wait to try this on my next night out!

NOVEMBER GLOSSYBOX 111SKIN GOLDEN FACIAL MASK REVIEW

In my November GLOSSYBOX I received the 111Skin Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask. I was so excited to try this, especially knowing that it was definitely out of my price 111skin-maskrange for a facemask so thank you GlossyBox for putting it into this month’s box!

I do love a good sheet mask so was super excited to try this out, I love how it was a lovely golden colour too; half expected due to the title. My first thought when taking it out of the packet was how rubbery it felt and even more so when actually applying it which was both weird and cool…but sadly the enjoyment swiftly ended.

I understand that sheet masks most of the time aren’t the111skin-failmask perfect fit but this facemask was more like a fail-mask…it didn’t stick to my skin apart from my cheeks and forehead, everywhere else there was a real struggle to get it to even stay on my face. It quickly became uncomfortable and being honest I couldn’t keep the mask on for longer than 5 minutes according to my timer.

The residue that you usually get from a sheet mask when you rub/dab/massage into your skin actually felt really good though and it did give the areas of my face that it actually came into contact to a nice healthy glow but other than that I cannot say that I could recommend this mask for the price.

PARABEN and SULPHATE FREE.

Price: £20.00

Although this isn’t one of my more positive reviews I still hope you enjoyed the read, love you guys and come back soon!

THISWORKS -Deep Sleep Pillow Spray Review

I’ve heard many people ask whether these “pillow sprays” actually work and help you sleep so receiving one in my November GLOSSYBOX to try seemed like a good time to find out.

Well actually, yes, I think it is. I do have anxiety and one of the triggers is when I have to sleep in new or different place – it can effect me really badly both mentally and physically (not very healthy or happy at all, one time it drove me to the point of isolating myself from the world the next day).

deep-sleep-pillow-spray

ThisWorks Deep Sleep Pillow Spray I’ve used in both my normal routine at my own house in my own bed AND  I have now also tried it in a different place (my dads house which is at the opposite side of the country to my usual comfort zones). I found that lastnights sleep was so much better than what I was expecting and even when I woke up once throughout the night it felt like I was still so relaxed so I give my pillow 1 more spray just to make sure it lasted.

I felt so refreshed in the morning and I felt like I went sent into a much deeper, much nicer sleep than usual. It’s a shame that we only received a 5ml sample when their full size product is 75ml.

Price: £16.00 for 75ml

If you want to try this out for yourself click on this link to go straight to the product on their website (SALE on at the moment – don’t know how long it will last for).

Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed it.
